Windows Live Hotmail, formerly known as MSN Hotmail is a free web-based email service operated by Microsoft as part of its Windows Live group.
Hotmail uses powerful Microsoft technology helps fight spam and improve security. You can get all your e-mail accounts, calendars, and contacts in one place – even if you use other e-mail services. Hotmail and Microsoft’s other Windows Live services are hosted in multiple datacenters around the world. The Hotmail service is organized in logical “scale units,” or clusters.

– It is growing storage at over 2 petabytes a month (a petabyte is ~1 million gigabytes or ~1000 terabytes). Hotmail currently have over 155 petabytes of storage deployed (70% of storage is taken up with attachments, typically photos).
